Amazon Bookmarklet for iPad

Amazon is an online retailer of books, movies, music and games along with electronics, toys, apparel, sports, tools, groceries and general home and garden items.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to setup the Amazon Universal Wish List bookmarklet on your Apple iPad.

We will need to create a bookmark and then go back and edit the bookmark to include the JavaScript code for the Amazon bookmarklet. The steps that we will be following are similar to the other tutorials on this site — only we will be inserting the code for Amazon.

Install the Amazon bookmarklet on the iPad

We will complete the following steps via the iPad.

Prepare your iPad & open this tutorial in mobile Safari

  • From your iPad, go to “Settings” and tap on “Safari.” Set Always Show Bookmarks Bar to “ON.” Set JavaScript to “ON.” Set Accept Cookies to “From visited.”
  • Next, open the Safari app and open this current page (go to iosbookmarklets.com and search for “Amazon” and select the tutorial for the iPad).
  • Now copy one of the codes in the section (Amazon bookmarklet code)

Create a temporary bookmark in mobile Safari

Next, tap on the share icon (square with a right arrow) at the top of your Safari page and tap “Add Bookmark.” Ensure that it will be saving to the “Bookmarks Bar” and then hit “Save.”

Update the temporary bookmark with the code for the bookmarklet

  1. Now tap on the bookmark icon (open book) to pull up your bookmarks. Tap on the “Bookmarks Bar” folder. Then tap “Edit” in the top corner of your window.
  2. Select the bookmark that you just created. Change the name to something of your choice – perhaps ‘Amazon’ or ‘Add to Wish list’.
  3. Next, erase the URL shown and paste the bookmarklet code for Amazon (press and hold, then release, then tap “Paste”).
  4. Hit “Bookmarks Bar” located in the bottom top left corner to go back. Tap “Done” located in the top right corner. Tap the bookmark icon to make it disappear.

Those are all the steps! You’ve now installed the Amazon bookmarklet on your iPad.

    Is there any way to get this to work for my amazon.co.uk list? I tried changing the URL simply to .co.uk instead of .com but it still links to .com.

        This is the code for Amazon UK:

        javascript:(function(){var
        w=window,l=w.location,d=w.document,s=d.createElement(‘script’),e=encodeURIComponent,o=’object’,n=’AUWLBookenGB’,u=’https://www.amazon.co.uk/wishlist/add’,r=’readyState’,T=setTimeout,a=’setAttribute’,g=function(){d[r]&&d[r]!=’complete’?T(g,200):!w[n]?(s[a](‘charset’,’UTF-8′),s[a](‘src’,u+’.js?loc=’+e(l)+’&b=’+n),d.body.appendChild(s),f()):f()},f=function(){!w[n]?T(f,200):w[n].showPopover()};typeof
        s!=o?l.href=u+’?u=’+e(l)+’&t=’+e(d.title):g()}())

          Oh, it’s taken the URL out when I’ve posted :( Ok, well what I did was to Google for “Amazon wishlist UK get button” on my laptop, Then right-clicked on the button instead of dragging it, copied the link, pasted it into an email to myself, then on my iPad I copied and pasted the text in the email and created a bookmarklet using your steps.

    Brilliant! It might be worth saying it is necessary to copy the word JavaScript too. This is the first time I have done this and did not realise at first.

    Thanks. I use the wishlist for my 2 kids wish lists, it will only let me select the child at the top & doesn’t allow me to scroll down – any ideas?
